Students will gain a working knowledge of how composting works, what materials to use and avoid, and how to create healthy compost systems for a garden, homestead, or small property. The class will cover important topics such as green and brown materials, pile structure, decomposition stages, odor prevention, pest control, and different composting methods including bins, piles, and simple backyard systems. Whether you want to reduce waste, improve garden soil, or build a more regenerative lifestyle, this class will give you a strong foundation for getting started.
