Get hands-on experience building with earth, straw, and sand in this 3-day natural building intensive. Cob is one of the oldest and most sustainable building materials on earth — and you don't need any prior construction experience to learn it.
Course highlights:
• History and global traditions of earthen building
• Cob mix ratios and testing methods
• Foundation design and drainage for earthen structures
• Wall raising, sculpting, and finishing techniques
• Natural plasters: clay, lime, and earthen finishes
• Integrating passive solar design principles
Participants will build a small demonstration structure together over the 3 days. Tools and all materials provided.
